Visit to melatur special education school

On Thursday, 18th September 2025, at 10:30 a.m., a total of 77 members, including 75 students and two staff members from the Department of Sociology, visited the Melattur Special Education School. As part of the department’s ongoing community outreach activities, food had been provided to the school on the previous day. Continuing this spirit of care and service, the team carried a box of laddus as a small token of affection for the children during this visit.

The group reached the school around 11:00 a.m. By that time, the teachers had already guided the children to their classrooms and seated them in an orderly manner. Upon arrival, the students from our department distributed laddus to all the children, who received them with great joy and excitement. After the distribution, Mrs. Aarti, one of the staff members, interacted warmly with the children. She spoke about the importance of love, care, and inclusion, making the atmosphere friendly and cheerful. Following her interaction, our students performed songs and dances, creating a lively and entertaining environment. The children responded with smiles and laughter, enjoying every moment of the program.

Soon, the children at the school also joined in—singing, dancing, and playing games with our students. The hall was filled with happiness and enthusiasm as both groups shared beautiful moments together. Before leaving, the teachers and children at the school expressed their heartfelt gratitude, thanking the department for their thoughtful visit and inviting everyone to come again.

The team departed from the school at 12:30 p.m. and reached back at the college by 1:00 p.m. The students then resumed their regular classes, carrying with them the joyful memories and valuable experiences from the visit.
