                              Introduction


The Department of Economics, KSHM Arts and Science College, Edathanattukara, conducted its weekly talk session titled “Kutti Kutti Talk” as part of an initiative to enhance students’ awareness, communication skills, and understanding of contemporary issues. This week’s session focused on the theme “Changes in the Trend of Arts Festivals in Colleges.”

           Objectives of the Session

To understand how college arts festivals have evolved over the years.

To examine the influence of modern culture, technology, and student preferences on arts festivals.

To highlight the educational and cultural significance of arts festivals in academic institutions.

To encourage students to share their experiences and observations.

                             Session Details

The talk began with a short introduction about the importance of arts festivals in college life. The HoD Miss Jini Joseph  explained how arts festivals were traditionally simple, focusing mainly on cultural competitions and limited student participation. Over the years, significant changes have taken place in terms of scale, participation, creativity, and coordination.

The following major changes and trends were discussed:


1. Digital Transformation

Use of social media for promotion and event coordination.

Online registrations, digital voting, and live streaming.

2. Increase in Student Participation

More clubs and committees actively involved.

Higher enthusiasm among students from all departments.

3. Innovative and Theme-Based Events

Introduction of fusion arts, short film contests, flash mobs, and creative exhibitions.

Themes promoting social issues, cultural diversity, and inclusivity.

4. Professional Management Approach

Structured scheduling, budgeting, event planning, and team leadership.

Collaboration with sponsors and external performers at some colleges.

5. Emphasis on Inclusiveness and Diversity

Encouraging participation from differently-abled students.

Creating platforms for all talents beyond traditional performing arts.

                         Student Interaction

Students actively participated in discussions, sharing personal experiences from previous arts festivals. Many expressed how the new trends help them build confidence, teamwork, communication skills, and a sense of belonging within the college community.

                          Outcome of the Program

Students gained a clear understanding of the transformations in arts festival culture.

                                 Conclusion

Report on Student Welfare Program – “Mom to Be”

Introduction


The Department of Economics organized a special student welfare program titled “Mom to Be” on 21 November 2025. The initiative aimed to support and encourage the well-being of student Arshida, who is expecting a baby, by providing emotional, academic, and health-related guidance.


Objectives of the Program


To ensure the physical and mental well-being of the expecting student.


To provide awareness on health care, nutrition, and stress management during pregnancy.


To offer academic support and counseling to help the student continue her studies without difficulty.


To promote a supportive and inclusive campus environment.



Program Details


The session was planned and conducted by the Sixth Semester Economics students as part of their student welfare activities.

Key components of the program included:


1. Introduction Session:

The student organizers welcomed all participants and explained the purpose of the program.



2. Health and Nutrition Awareness:

Basic guidelines on prenatal care, nutritious food habits, and the importance of regular medical checkups were shared.



3. Emotional Support and Motivation:

The team interacted with Arshida, listened to her concerns, and assured her of continuous support throughout her academic journey.



4. Academic Assistance:

Arrangements were discussed to help her manage attendance, class notes, and examinations effectively.



5. Gift and Good Wishes:

As a token of love and encouragement, the organizers presented a small gift to Arshida and conveyed heartfelt wishes for her safe and healthy maternity period.




Outcome of the Program


The “Mom to Be” program created a positive environment of care and support. Akshita expressed her gratitude, and the session helped build awareness among students about empathy, responsibility, and student welfare.


Conclusion


The Department of Economics and Sixth Semester students successfully conducted the “Mom to Be” welfare program, ensuring emotional and academic support for Akshita. The event highlighted the commitment of the department towards promoting a compassionate learning atmosphere and strengthening the bond between students.

Child Rights Awareness Class

 



Report on Child Rights Awareness Class


Conducted by Sixth Semester Students – Femina and  fathima Danisha under economics department 


              Introduction


A Child Rights Awareness Class was conducted by Sixth Semester students, Femina and fathima Danisha , for 12-year-old children[8th std students ] as part of an educational outreach activity. The programme aimed to make children aware of their fundamental rights, responsibilities, and the laws that protect them under the Child Rights and Protection Act.


         Objectives of the Programme


The major objectives of the awareness class were:


To introduce children to the concept of child rights.


To make them aware of the Child Rights and Protection Act.


To help children understand their right to education, safety, health, and freedom from exploitation.


To develop awareness on how and where to seek help in unsafe situations.


To encourage children to express themselves with confidence.

Venue: School Classroom / Activity Hall at KSHM English Medium School ,EDATHANATTUKARA 


Type of Activity: Awareness Class and Interactive Session



The session began with a friendly introduction to make children comfortable. The presenters explained the meaning of “rights” and why special rights are given to children.




 Content of the Awareness Class

1. Right to Education – every child must attend school and learn.



2. Right to Protection – protection from abuse, violence, and neglect.



3. Right to Health – access to proper food, care, and medical support.



4. Right to Identity – every child has the right to a name and nationality.



5. Right to Participation – children have the right to express their views.



6. Right to Development – opportunities for growth, play, and creativity.




          Child Rights and Protection Act


The students explained in simple language the key ideas of the Act:


Children should not be harmed mentally or physically.


No child should be forced into labour or early marriage.


Children must be safe at home, school, and in public spaces.


If they feel unsafe, they should report to a teacher, parent, or trusted adult.


Emergency helpline 1098 (Childline) can be used for immediate help.

                                  Conclusion


The Child Rights Awareness Class conducted by Femina and Janica for 12 year-old students was a highly successful initiative. The session effectively spread awareness about child rights and the Child Rights and Protection Act, helping children understand their safety, responsibilities, and the support systems available to them. The programme fulfilled its objectives and contributed positively to the well-being and empowerment of young learners.

Report on Project Orientation Class Led by Research Scholar at John Mathai Centre, Thrissur


A Project Orientation Class was conducted as part of the academic enrichment activities for undergraduate students. The session was led by a research scholar from Trisure, held at the John Mathai Centre, University of Calicut, Thrissur.

Inauguration 

Mr. Raihan from 6th sem economics  delivered welcome speech. Mr. Muhammed Junaid k,assistant professor from KSHM college inaugurated the program. Miss Jini HOD  of Economic Department gave Presidential address and miss Vaheeda, assistant  professor felicitated .

Aim and objectives  

The aim of the orientation was to provide students with a clear understanding of how to select project topics, structure a research report, review literature, and follow proper research methodology. The resource person explained the importance of identifying relevant research gaps, using reliable data sources, and applying appropriate analytical tools.

Activity

During this section  scholar gave a basic ideas  about  project for ug students. 

During the session, students were introduced to the basics of project design, including formulating objectives, developing hypotheses, preparing questionnaires, and organizing data for analysis. The research scholar also highlighted common mistakes made by students during project preparation and offered practical tips to avoid them.










Conclusion 

The class was highly informative, and students actively participated by asking questions and clarifying doubts. The orientation helped them gain confidence in undertaking their upcoming project work and provided a strong foundation for successful research.

The library visit was highly useful for the preparation of the project. It helped in collecting reliable information and enhanced understanding of the project topic. The visit improved research skills and provided a strong foundation for completing the project effectively.

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION

 


The PG Department of Commerce and Management Studies, under the banner FESTINNOVA, in association with the IQAC of KSHM Arts & Science College, organized a Children’s Day Celebration at Palakkunnu Anganwadi on 14th November 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The programme was arranged with the objective of spreading joy among the children and providing them with a memorable day of fun and learning. The event began with a warm welcome to the Anganwadi children, followed by a short introduction about the significance of Children's Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Various fun-filled activities, including games, action songs, and interactive sessions, were conducted by the students of the department. The children enthusiastically participated in all the activities, filling the atmosphere with energy and excitement. Colorful decorations and cheerful interactions added to the spirit of celebration.

Gifts and sweets were distributed to the children as a token of love and appreciation. The teachers and staff of Palakkunnu Anganwadi expressed their gratitude for organizing such a meaningful programme.

The event concluded with positive feedback from both the Anganwadi staff and the participating students, who found the experience enriching and socially engaging. The programme successfully achieved its objective of bringing smiles and joy to the children.

REMEDIAL CLASS

 Report on the Remedial Class

A remedial class was conducted for the  supplementary exam of the Commerce Department. The session aimed to help students understand the important topics of the syllabus and to prepare them effectively for their upcoming examinations.

The class was handled by Ms. Shemeela, Assistant Professor of Commerce. She explained the key concepts of Business Regulation in a simple and comprehensive manner. The students were given opportunities to clarify their doubts and actively participated in the discussion.

The session proved to be very useful for the students, as it helped them strengthen their understanding of the subject and improve their confidence in facing the examination.

“GET READY TO EXAM”

An orientation class titled “Get Ready to Exam” was conducted on 11th November 2025 at the Seminar Hall of KSHM Arts & Science College, Edathanattukara, as part of the observance of National Education Day. The programme was organized in association with IQAC.

The session was led by Dr. Abdul Bari, Principal of KSHM Arts & Science College. The class was mainly arranged for the first-semester students to guide them in preparing effectively for their upcoming first-semester examinations.

Dr. Abdul Bari sir addressed the students on the importance of proper exam preparation, time management, study planning, and maintaining a positive mindset. He also shared useful strategies for writing university examinations and motivated students to approach their exams with confidence and discipline.

The session was highly informative and beneficial for the new students, helping them reduce exam fear and develop a better understanding of exam patterns and expectations. The programme concluded with an interactive session where students clarified their doubts.

Overall, the orientation class served as a valuable platform to support first-semester students and encourage them to perform well in their examinations.

An exam orientation session was conducted by our respected Principal, Dr. Abdul Bari, for the students at the Seminar hall on Tuesday, 11th November 2025. The session aimed to prepare students for the upcoming examinations and to guide them on effective learning strategies, time management, and maintaining a positive mindset during the exam period.


Dr. Abdul Bari addressed the gathering with valuable insights on the importance of consistent preparation, proper planning, and stress management techniques. He also emphasized the need for academic integrity, discipline, and self-confidence. The Principal encouraged students to focus on conceptual understanding rather than rote learning and shared motivational thoughts to inspire them toward academic excellence.


The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and raising queries related to exam preparation and evaluation patterns. The principal patiently answered their questions and provided practical tips to enhance performance.
