Report on Child Rights Awareness Class
Conducted by Sixth Semester Students – Femina and fathima Danisha under economics department
Introduction
A Child Rights Awareness Class was conducted by Sixth Semester students, Femina and fathima Danisha , for 12-year-old children[8th std students ] as part of an educational outreach activity. The programme aimed to make children aware of their fundamental rights, responsibilities, and the laws that protect them under the Child Rights and Protection Act.
Objectives of the Programme
The major objectives of the awareness class were:
To introduce children to the concept of child rights.
To make them aware of the Child Rights and Protection Act.
To help children understand their right to education, safety, health, and freedom from exploitation.
To develop awareness on how and where to seek help in unsafe situations.
To encourage children to express themselves with confidence.

The session began with a friendly introduction to make children comfortable. The presenters explained the meaning of “rights” and why special rights are given to children.
Content of the Awareness Class
Child Rights Discussed
1. Right to Education – every child must attend school and learn.
2. Right to Protection – protection from abuse, violence, and neglect.
3. Right to Health – access to proper food, care, and medical support.
4. Right to Identity – every child has the right to a name and nationality.
5. Right to Participation – children have the right to express their views.
6. Right to Development – opportunities for growth, play, and creativity.
Child Rights and Protection Act
The students explained in simple language the key ideas of the Act:
Children should not be harmed mentally or physically.
No child should be forced into labour or early marriage.
Children must be safe at home, school, and in public spaces.
If they feel unsafe, they should report to a teacher, parent, or trusted adult.
Emergency helpline 1098 (Childline) can be used for immediate help.

The Child Rights Awareness Class conducted by Femina and Janica for 12 year-old students was a highly successful initiative. The programme fulfilled its objectives and contributed positively to the well-being and empowerment of young learners.
